Wedding season is almost here so I wanted to squeeze in a few more travel posts before April.

Hiking around places like Monument Valley at sunrise by yourself is an amazing feeling. There is not a sound from another person. It’s pretty much you and your thoughts. It is probably one of my favorite things about doing landscape photography.

All of these photographs were taken with medium format film cameras (a Pentax 67 and a Fuji 617 panorama camera). I use 100% digital for my weddings but I still love to play around with film cameras when it comes to landscapes and nature.

Here are some of my favorites from:

Monument Valley – Forrest Gump filmed the scene of Tom Hanks running at sunrise here.

Antelope Canyon – This was the only place that I was not alone………it is on The Navajo Indian Reservation so the only way in or out of the canyon is to get a ride from one of The Native Americans who own a really cool 4-wheel drive.

Bryce Canyon – This was an amazing place. Up at about 9000 feet, you start at the top of the canyon and hike down……….hiking back out with all of my camera gear was tiring to say the least.

Zion National Park – Reminded me of Yosemite but bright red.

Hope you enjoy the photos!
